Area of Interest

Expertise is in early-stage (FDA phase 1 and 2) testing novel treatments for substance use disorders (especially nicotine, alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, and heroin). Interested in partnerships for conducting human trials of (a) dendrimers that could be used for targeted pharmaceutical delivery; (b) neural-electric implants for stimulating brain centers to counteract the effects of abused drugs; (c) “negative feedback” biosensors designed to reduce the harms/toxicity of substance abuse, such as detecting and responding to abnormal physiological changes (e.g., decreased O2 saturation or increased pCO2) by delivering antidote; and (d) PET
