Area of Interest
1. Synthesis and characterization of metal, metal oxide, and metal nitride nanoparticles.2. Use of these nanoparticles as precursors for the growth of thin films, wherein the phase or other properties of the films are predetermined by the nature of the nanoparticle.3. Growth and characterization of luminescent semiconductor nanoparticles, control of their surface chemistry to allow integration into a variety of different matrixes, fabrication of sensors based upon these nanoparticles.4. Controlled growth of very thin films (>20 nm thick) using atomic layer deposition.
Resources
We use the equipment that is available within the Central Instrument Facility in the Chemistry Building
Collaboration Interests:
I would like to develop collaborations with medical researchers who are interested in using nanoparticles.
