Dr. Shi joined Wayne State University in 2002 as assistant professor and is currently professor of Computer Science in the College of Engineering. He was program director of CISE/CNS/CSR at the National Science Foundation from August 2013 through August 2015. Prior to joining Wayne State, he was associate research scientist in computer science at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University. He has received numerous honors and awards, including the ACM Distinguished Scientist award in 2016, IEEE felow in 2016, and a NSF CAREER Award in 2007, among many others. He has received research funding from the National Science Foundation, Intel, the Great Lakes Protection Fund, the Gates Foundation, among others.
