April Idalski Carcone, Ph.D.

Dr. Carcone is an assistant professor in the Behavioral Sciences Division of the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences. Dr. Carcone is a social worker by training with over 14 years of experience in behavioral health research. Her research has two foci, understanding the mechanisms by which behavioral interventions work with a specific emphasis on the mechanisms of effect in Motivational Interviewing and the development and testing of behavioral interventions to improve health outcomes and reduce health disparities among at-risk children, adolescents, and young adults with chronic illnesses including type 1 diabetes, asthma, and HIV.
