SPA to Participate in NCURA Web-Based Workshop
SPA is pleased to announce that it will be participating in a web-based workshop sponsored by the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA), entitled, What Am I Signing Anyway?
Friday, December 2, 2005
12:30 PM - 2:00 PM Eastern
Location: 5057 Woodward Ave., Room 6202
Whether you review proposals or serve as the institutional authorizing official, there are many issues that you need to address before submitting a proposal. Faculty commitment, cost-sharing and availability of facilities and space are just some of the crucial factors that must be reviewed before you commit your institution to undertake a project. With limited time and resources, how should you structure the proposal review process to make sure that the most important issues are covered? The panelists will take you through a typical proposal review, help you understand those incomprehensible certifications, and provide helpful hints for dealing with crazy proposal deadlines and last minute submissions. Before submitting your next proposal, find out what your signature really means!
Presenters:
Sally Tremaine, Associate Director, Grant and Contract Administration, Yale University;
Joyce B. Freedman, Assistant Vice Chancellor, Office of Research, University of California, San Francisco
Goals:
- To help administrators understand what they are agreeing to when proposals are signed and submitted to a sponsor.
- To explore the meaning of the various certifications and assurances that are often required as part of proposal submission.
- To provide information that is helpful in reviewing and/or redesigning proposal process flow.
Areas that will be covered:
- Definitions of reps and certs
- Explanation of different types of agreements
- Suggestions about how to prioritize when proposal deadlines get crazy
Because space is limited, please make a reservation with Amanda Reese via e-mail at ad1137@wayne.edu , or by phone at 313-577-2294.
