FedEx directs its giving at the communities where its employees live and work. In addition to philanthropy and employee volunteerism, the company develops relationships with charitable organizations that share its values.Corporate resources include financial contributions, in- kind shipping services and volunteer services of FedEx employees. Written requests are accepted year-round and are generally reviewed within three weeks of receipt. FedEx prefers to contribute to specific program needs rather than to special events or capital campaigns.
FedEx’s core giving areas include:
Emergency and Disaster Relief: FedEx provides contributions and logistics/transportation support for emergency and disaster needs. FedEx has established relationships with several relief agencies, including the American Red Cross, United Way International and Heart to Heart International.
Pedestrian and Child Safety: Safety is a core value of FedEx, and it is the first consideration in all operations. The company partners with the National SAFE KIDS Campaign to promote child and pedestrian safety around the world. It also supports other organizations that work to enhance the safety of children and transportation systems.
Education: FedEx works extensively with programs such as Junior Achievement and Adopt-A-School. The company also supports organizations that enhance education in the following areas: technology, global economics and trade, cultural diversity, and innovative programs that enhance learning.
Health and Human Services: FedEx provides support for health and human service needs through the United Way and March of Dimes. Although limited, the company also supports youth development organizations and others that meet basic human needs.
Selected charities must be registered 501(c)(3) organizations in good financial and public standing. FedEx is especially interested in supporting nonprofit organizations that request 5 percent or less of a total project budget, contingency grants, or seed monies with the thought that other sources will contribute matching amounts. Organizations must show evidence of competent management, low administrative/fund-raising expense ratios, and a nondiscriminatory program benefiting broad segments of the community.
FedEx has ongoing partnerships with several organizations, including the United Way, Red Cross and the March of Dimes. Other organizations the company works with include Heart to Heart International, Junior Achievement, National Civil Rights Museum, and The National Conference for Community and Justice.
In addition, FedEx employees give their time and talents to several other groups, such as the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Toys for Tots, FedEx St. Jude Classic, Special Olympics and Adopt-a-Schools.
