SPA to Participate in NCURA Videoconference

The Wayne State University Sponsored Program Administration office is happy to announce its participation in The National Council of University Research Administrators 2006 Video Workshop Series, entitled “Technology Transfer for the Research Administrator.”

The session will be help on September 12, 2006, from 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m in the Bernath Auditorium of the David Adamany Undergraduate Library.

This session will discuss the ins and outs of “Technology Transfer”the conveyance of intellectual property developed by university researchers over to the private sector where it can be commercialized to better serve the pubic good. This process can appear to be unduly complex to the layperson. NCURA has designed a workshop to provide an overview of the technology transfer process and the thought process and necessary infrastructure underlying it. Topics covered will include the Bayl-Dole Act, The Tax Reform Act of 1986, patents, licenses, options, copyrights, trade secrets and trademarks, as well as; research agreements, confidential disclosure agreements, and material transfer agreements. The workshop will also provide a historical contextfor the
rationale behind government, university, and industry collaborations which facilitate such transfer of technology to the private sector.

To register for this session e-mail Amanda Reese at ad1137@wayne.edu .
