Telling My Story Exhibit Opens

The Telling My Story exhibit will be open to faculty, students, and staff of the WSU units (College of Nursing, Institute of Gerontology, the Humanities Center, and the School of Social Work) whose primary sponsorship and generous support helped to make this exhibit possible.

One of the objectives of this project includes building public awareness of the emerging problem of homelessness among older women and demonstrating how art and science can be integrated to put a human face on a serious social issue that people who are not currently homeless should prepare for. The traveling art exhibit is based on the research of PIs, Drs. Olivia G. M. Washington and Dr. David P. Moxley with older homeless women on the edge of recovery from homelessness in Detroit.

At this time a limited number of community partners and additional University faculty and staff are also invited to view this exhibit in its temporary location, before it is removed in preparation for an exhibit and educational forum that can be opened to a wider audience.

Two dates have been identified in which visitors can view the exhibit currently installed in Wayne State University’s College of Nursing first floor lounge. The dates are Thursday October 26 from 9:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and Monday October 30th from 9:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. The College of Nursing’s lounge is located in room 119 at 5557 Cass Avenue, Detroit, MI 48202.
