OVPR to Host Export Control Regulations Seminar

The Federal Government has increased enforcement regulations concerning academic activities related to the transfer of certain information (regardless of medium), goods, technology and materials to individuals or entities both inside and outside of the United States. While most research and teaching activities are exempt from these regulations, many are not. The university is developing a process to assist WSU’s faculty, students and staff in determining whether any of their activities are controlled by these regulations, and how best to ensure regulatory compliance.

On May 7, the Office of the Vice President for Research is hosting a seminar with export control regulations expert, Dr. Susan Sedwick, from the University of Texas. The seminar will be from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Bernath Auditorium in the Undergraduate Library. Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend this presentation. Please email research@wayne.edu to confirm your attendance. We hope you will join us for this important event!

If you would like more information or have specific questions or concerns, please view the Export Control website at www.research.wayne.edu/compliance/export_control/ or contact Dr. Mary Duncan in the Office of Research Compliance (313) 577-3977.
