OVPR Welcomes AAHRPP Accreditation Site Visitors

Wayne State University is committed to the safety and protection of human participants involved in biomedical and behavioral research at our Institution and our affiliates. In view of that commitment, the Office of the Vice President for Research OVPR, the Office of Research Compliance (ORC) and the Human Investigation Committee (HIC) have been working toward accreditation with the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP). After a year of intense preparation by the HIC Staff and the ORC, which resulted in a new Human Research Protection Program and manual, the AAHRPP site visit is scheduled for April 25-27. The site visitors include distinguished representatives from the Duke Medical Center, the University of Rochester, Massachusetts General Hospital and the University of Oregon.

The success of Wayne State University’s Human Research Protection Program and the accreditation site visit is a team effort and requires the support and cooperation of everyone involved in research involving human participants. This includes administrators, faculty, staff and students. The OVPR, ORC and HIC would like to thank everyone for their efforts during this accreditation process and the assistance and dedication of those selected to be participants in the site visit. The success of the site visit will reflect Wayne State University’s commitment to excellence in human participant research.

For more information or questions concerning the site visit please contact Jo Anna Risk, Process Improvement/Compliance Coordinator (313) 577-2901 or Patti Webber, Education Coordinator (313) 577-9534.
