National Children’s Study awarded $18.5 million - WSU is major participant

Wayne State University will receive over $6 million from the recently awarded National Children’s Study. Dr. Robert Sokol will lead Wayne State’s efforts in the most ambitious children’s health study of its kind in the nation.

Tej Mattoo, M.D. honored by The NephCure Foundation

New AIC Process Improves Faculty Research Efforts

The Animal Investigation Committee (AIC) announced the creation of a new protocol submission process that has significantly improved the protocol approval rate and reduced the paperwork required for submission In June, the AIC implemented a protocol pre-review process and began accepting protocol submissions via email The pre-review of new protocols by the WSU veterinarians has increased the provisional approval rate for protocols submitted in July and August to 59%, up from the 15% approval rate during the previous six months!

Dr. Weiss cracks code for genetic eye disease

Scott Moffat, IOG and Psychology, receives $1.46 million grant

Dr. Scott Moffat, assistant professor at WSU’s Institute of Gerontology and the Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has received a $1.46 million grant from the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute on Aging (NIA) for research on cortisol, another hormone thought to influence the brain’s health and functions.

Wayne State University and University of Windsor Forge International Partnership on Public Health Research

The Presidents of the University of Windsor and Wayne State University recently came together with the mayor of Windsor, Mr. Eddie Francis, to discuss an international collaborative project, known as the North American Public Health Institute (NAPHI), which the two universities are creating to address public health issues.

President’s Conference on Health Disparities - Call for Abstracts

WSU to host “The Big Event About Little Things”

It’s the last week to register for the big event about little things, a national conference on Emerging Nanoscience Applications in Technology and Biomedicine (ENATBIO), which will take place on October 15 and 16 at WSU’s McGregor Conference Center. WSU faculty can pre-register at the discounted rate of $100 and WSU students can pre-register at the discounted rate of $50.
