Pediatric Cancer Research Grant Opportunity
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation http://alexslemonade.org/grant_req.php is a unique not-for-profit foundation that has evolved from a young cancer patient’s front yard lemonade stand to a national foundation for childhood cancer.
The Foundation’s grant program is committed to eradicating childhood cancer through basic research, career development, and helping to streamline translational clinical research. Grants are designed to fill important voids in currently pediatric cancer research. Proposals are due December 15, 2007.
The categories of research applications are as follows:
Program Infrastructure Awards: Center-based grants designed to support the infrastructure necessary to administer Phase 1 and 2 clinical trials. It is expected that proposals will be submitted by seasoned translational/clinical scientists and will be designed to catalyze early phase clinical trial research efforts. Maximum of $125,000 in direct costs annually for up to two years.
Young Investigator Awards: Grants designed as start-up funds for new scientists at the end of their fellowship training or early in their research career. Applications from hematology/oncology or other post-doctoral fellows such as Ph.D. basic science researchers and junior faculty will be considered. Maximum of $40,000 annually for up to two years.
Cancer Epidemiology Awards: Grants designed to support the research or investigators who have a specific focus on the epidemiology of childhood cancer. Funding will support research proposals to be carried out by established investigators who have a track record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant areas. $50,000 annually for up to two years.
