WSU Receives “Gold Standard” Accreditation in Protecting Human Research Subjects

Following a rigorous, two and a half years evaluatian process, WSU’s research program involving human participants has received full accreditation by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs Inc. (AAHRPP).

Oupicky, Brock and Sheng Earn $400,000 NIH Grant

A group of WSU researchers are prepared to engineer “smart” porous nanoparticles for targeted delivery of cancer fighting drugs into prostate tumors. According to this team, the process may lead to treatments for a wide variety of other types of cancer.

Internal Funding Opportunity: Transformational Nanoscience

The goals of the initiative are twofold: i) to support the development of pioneering research to be linked with Wayne State University, and ii) to serve as seed money in externally funded high-risk/high-pay initiatives.

RFA - IOG Fellowship for Advanced Study in Aging and Lifespan

The Institute of Gerontology, in conjunction with the Office of the Vice President for Research, has created a new fellowship program to support faculty time for research. This Fellowship for Advanced Study in Aging and Lifespan (FASAL) is a three-year pilot program authorized to grant $25,000 each year to a selected IOG fellow.

Computational Biology Seminar Series Announced

A new computational biology seminar series will begin on January 22, 2008. This free seminar series is open to all faculty and students. The series brings together WSU leaders in the development and use of computational techniques, with emphasis on molecular mechanics and quantum mechanical methods, to study the conformational properties of macromolecules in solutions, and to determine the energetics and mechanisms of enzymatic reactions in living cells.
