Faculty Development Seminar - How to Start Up and Run a Lab
The next seminar in the Faculty Development Series, “How to Start Up and Run a Lab,” sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Research, Office of the Provost and the Graduate School, will be held on February 22 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium at the Law School. All faculty and post-docs are invited to attend this free seminar!

Topics will include:
- Is it important to develop a mission and vision for your lab? How do you communicate a mission and vision to your lab team?
- What do you need to know about hiring the best lab personnel as well as terminating staff?
- How do you handle dissention and conflict in the lab? Alternatively, how do you create a supportive and productive laboratory environment, where staff and students help one another learn?
- What do you and your lab members need to know about the purchasing process? Who handles problems if something goes wrong?
- How do you prevent chaos if your lab has to undergo facility renovations or your need to move to temporary space? What do you need to know about facility management?
- What do your lab personnel need to know about research compliance and integrity? Record keeping?
