Wayne State Physics professors selected to collaborate at world’s leading particle physics laboratory in Switzerland

A Wayne State research group, led by Drs. Paul Karchin and Rob Harr, professors of Physics in the College of Liberal Arts and Science has been selected to join the Compact Muon Solenoid collaboration at the European Center for Nuclear Research, the world’s leading laboratory for particle physics located in Geneva, Switzerland.

Retired Wayne State University distinguished professor receives lifetime achievement award

Dr. Charles Schuster, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at Wayne State University’s School of Medicine, will be honored by the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) with the 2008 Peter B. Dews Lifetime Achievement Award in Behavioral Pharmacology on April 5, 2008. The award recognizes outstanding lifetime achievement in research, teaching and professional service in the field of behavioral pharmacology.

Dr. Faith Hopp of the School of Social Work Honored with Faculty Scholar Award from the John A. Hartford Foundation

Dr. Faith Hopp, assistant professor at Wayne State University’s School of Social Work, is a recent recipient of a prestigious $100,000 Hartford Geriatric Social Work Faculty Scholar award - one of ten awards given. The project, “Barriers and Facilitators to Heart Failure Care in Urban Settings,” aims to obtain “in-depth information about the perceptions of barriers and experience that caregivers’ of people with advanced heart failure have, especially regarding heart failure care in urban areas,” said Hopp.
