Wayne State University/University of Windsor Public Health Initiative

The Office of the Vice President for Research will host a series of meetings this month to follow up on the Wayne State University - University of Windsor Public Health initiative that began in October. Each of these meetings will focus on one of the research ideas that generated from the October meeting. All faculty members are invited to attend and we encourage you to share this notice with others.

All meetings will be held in at 5057 Woodward in conference room 6202. The meeting schedule is as follows:

January 20, 2006 - 9 to 11 a.m.: Mapping Community Health: Combining Canada and US environmental, health and socioeconomic data. Examples include mapping obesity prevalence, obesity and cultural data, obesity and related problems.

January 25, 2006 - 9 to 11 a.m.: Comparative Health Care Delivery Systems: Access to health care; mental health care; maternal and child health care; chronic disease care; health care policy.

January 25, 2006 - 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.: Health and Health Disparities: Factors that affect etiology, course, treatment or outcome of disease.

January 26, 2006 - 9 to 11 a.m.: Community Health Care: Study the emergency preparedness for flu epidemic as a case study of infectious disease. Who gets vaccinated in Canada as compared to the US? What is the quarantine policy?

January 26, 2006 - 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.: International Health Track for Masters of Public Health Program: Developing an International Health curriculum for the Masters of Public Health program.
