Dr. Paula Dore-Duffy Receives Grant to Study Potential Cell Replacement Therapy for Multiple Sclerosis

Dr. Paula Dore-Duffy, professor of Neurology in the School of Medicine, was recently awarded a $44,000 grant from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for her research on a potential cell replacement therapy for people with multiple sclerosis.

Assistant Professor of Chemistry Receives NSF Career Award

Dr. David Rueda, assistant professor of Chemistry in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was recently awarded a $775,000 NSF CAREER award for the project titled, “RNA Folding Dynamics by Single Molecule Temperature Jump Kinetics.”

Wayne State Physics professors selected to collaborate at world’s leading particle physics laboratory in Switzerland

A Wayne State research group, led by Drs. Paul Karchin and Rob Harr, professors of Physics in the College of Liberal Arts and Science has been selected to join the Compact Muon Solenoid collaboration at the European Center for Nuclear Research, the world’s leading laboratory for particle physics located in Geneva, Switzerland.

Retired Wayne State University distinguished professor receives lifetime achievement award

Dr. Charles Schuster, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at Wayne State University’s School of Medicine, will be honored by the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) with the 2008 Peter B. Dews Lifetime Achievement Award in Behavioral Pharmacology on April 5, 2008. The award recognizes outstanding lifetime achievement in research, teaching and professional service in the field of behavioral pharmacology.
