National Children’s Study awarded $18.5 million - WSU is major participant

New AIC Process Improves Faculty Research Efforts

The Animal Investigation Committee (AIC) announced the creation of a new protocol submission process that has significantly improved the protocol approval rate and reduced the paperwork required for submission In June, the AIC implemented a protocol pre-review process and began accepting protocol submissions via email The pre-review of new protocols by the WSU veterinarians has increased the provisional approval rate for protocols submitted in July and August to 59%, up from the 15% approval rate during the previous six months!

Dr. Weiss cracks code for genetic eye disease

Wayne State University Grads Play Major Role in Solving Structure of HIV Protein

Drs. Tongqing Zhou and Barna Dey, both graduates of Wayne State University, have played a major role in the recent AIDS discovery made at the Vaccines Research Center at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) that was featured in the February 15, 2007 issue of Nature. The new findings are hopeful in helping to find a vaccine to curb HIV infection.
