Important Protocol Submission Tips
Submitting a protocol in eProtocol doesn’t have to be daunting. The IACUC Office is working on a Sample IACUC Protocol for faculty members to assist in preparation of an IACUC protocol. In the meantime, here are some key protocol submission tips:
- In the Procedures section, make sure you list every drug that will be used for each individual procedure under the “Non-Surgical Procedure Drugs” section. For example, if you add “Administration of Study Drugs” as a procedure, please add the drugs you are administering.
- Please remember to add all the funding associated with your protocol and attach any external grants to the Attachments section. The attachment should include the cover page, abstract, research design/aims, and vertebrate animals’ section (for NIH grants).
- Please verify that the animal numbers listed in the species table on the Species section matches the animal numbers in the justification in question (2) in that page.
- In the Are You Using section, check that you have listed the correct and most recent IBC, Radiation Safety and/or Controlled Substance protocol number(s) under the applicable section. Your IACUC protocol cannot be approved until these are approved first.
As always, if you have any questions about your IACUC protocol or eProtocol, please contact us at IACUC@wayne.edu.
