The Office of the Vice President for Research currently has two ongoing research executive searches to fill key positions within the Division of Research. They are the Assistant Vice President of Technology Transfer & Commercialization, and Assistant/Associate Vice President for Sponsored Program Administration. Assistant Vice President of Technology Transfer & Commercialization

This position will serve as the University's officer responsible for leading and managing the protection and commercialization of Wayne State University ("WSU") intellectual property ("WSU IP") and for promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in support of the university’s strategic goals of efficient translation of innovative research from academia to the market for public benefit. The AVP will promote and develop communications and collaborations within the WSU community and with external partners including industry, economic development, and federal and state agencies. This position reports to the Vice President for Research.

Assistant/Associate Vice President for Sponsored Program Administration

This position will be responsible for leading the Sponsored Program Administration team of 40 staff. The AVP will oversee all aspects of proposal review and submission, negotiation of award terms and conditions, compliance with administrative and fiscal terms and conditions of all awards, as well as identifying and resolving issues throughout the entire award life cycle. The AVP will work with various offices and academic leaders across campus to foster a positive, productive, and growing research enterprise. The AVP will serve as the lead administrator for sponsored grants and contracts for the University and will represent the Office of the Vice President for Research on appropriate business and administrative councils and committees.
