RoBUST Fall Symposium, Friday October 7th 2016!

Dear Colleagues,

We are very pleased to invite you to the second annual Fall Symposium presented by the Researchers of Biobehavioral Health in Urban Settings Today (RoBUST) at Wayne State University. The RoBUST transdisciplinary initiative has grown to include over 60 faculty representing a range of departments and disciplines across the Wayne State campus. The symposium will take place Friday October 7th, 2016 at McGregor Memorial Conference Center located on the Wayne State Campus. This year's theme is "The Science of Team Science."

Over the course of the day, there will be a series of keynotes from leaders in the field of team science and interdisciplinary initiatives across the nation, including Drs. Michelle Bennett of the National Cancer Institute ("Collaboration and Team Science: Secrets to Success"), Ruth Wageman of Harvard University ("Solving Complex Problems Together: The Promise of Stewardship Teams"), Kara Hall of the National Cancer Institute ("Enhancing Collaboration to Improve the Success of Cross-disciplinary Science"), and Christian Schunn of University of Pittsburgh ("How Analogies Propel Team Creativity and Problem Solving").

Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all attendees in order to promote opportunities for collaborative discussions. This year's conference will also include an exciting new addition: a "speed networking" session designed to foster innovative transdisciplinary collaborations. We hope that these sessions will result in research proposals from attendees, from which 3 will be selected to receive a RoBUST seed grant (each worth $22,500). There is no registration fee, but registration is required and space is limited (and quickly running out).

Please register for the symposium here.

Please forward this invitation and attached flyer to colleagues and students who may be interested and feel free to contact me with any questions.

Sincerely,
