Partial Federal Government Shutdown Information for Researchers
We are committed to keeping you informed about the federal government shutdown and how it affects our university research. This webpage will help the campus community access information about federal budget issues related to the partial government shutdown, and will be updated as information becomes available. This shutdown affects some government sponsors, but not others. NIH, DOD, ED and DOE all have appropriations signed in to law, but NSF, EPA and NASA do not.

Proposal Submission Information
Federal proposal submission portals (e.g. Grants.Gov, etc.) - will continue to accept proposals during the partial government shutdown. Therefore, it is likely that proposal deadlines will remain as is, and not be extended for agencies using these systems for proposal submissions. Everyone should continue to submit proposals as usual.
Research Awards Information
It is anticipated that impacted agencies may temporarily stop making payments, and communications related to awards may cease during the partial government shutdown. Wayne State's Sponsored Program Administration staff will continue with a "business as usual" model as much as possible. Any constraints created by the inability to access sponsor systems and/or staff will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
Unless directed by the awarding agency, work should continue if funding is available and if it does not require accessing agency locations, additional funding, data, agency locations or resources. Those projects which depend on accessing agency data

The National Science Foundation has posted updated information about the government shutdown for all NSF proposers and grantees. - No new funding opportunities will be issued.
- FastLane and Research.gov proposal preparation and submission will be available. Proposals will not be processed until normal operations resume.
