Preparing Your Grants.gov Application
Did you complete the steps in the Getting Started section?
- PIease do not register with Grants.gov.
- PDF Software Needed
Locate your FOA and download Application Package from Grants.gov
- FIND
- Each FOA has a specific Application Package. Make sure you download the correct Application Package.
- Save the Application Package to a location of your choice (i.e. hard drive, shared drive, jump drive).
Complete the Application Package
- Application is completed off-line.
- READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. You must follow both Grants.gov and agency guidelines.
- Complete the Cover Page component first (SF424 or SF424 (R&R)). Fields on the cover page pre-populate other application documents.
- SAVE OFTEN!
- Complete all appropriate forms. Read instructions to determine if optional forms are required.
- Move all completed forms to the "Completed Documents" column.
- Check package for errors by clicking the "Check Package for Errors" Button.

- Save Application Package when no more errors are found.
Follow your department's procedure for processing a proposal
Send your Application Package to SPA for Review and Submission
