NIH Announces Environmental Health Disparities Centers Solicitation
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has reissued the Environmental Health Disparities Centers (P50) solicitation. The centers are meant to “support multidisciplinary research, research capacity building, and community-engaged approaches on understanding and addressing environmental health disparities with an emphasis on environmental justice action.” It reissues a previous collaboration among the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), and the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR), specifically focusing on marginalized populations, including immigrants. Projects should target NIH-designated health disparity groups and involve minority researchers. The center will consist of three cores; an administrative core for oversight, an investigator development core for research training, and a Community Engagement and Dissemination Core to foster community relationships and enhance public health literacy. Full applications are due December 5, 2024.
