The IACUC and DLAR are pleased to report several successful inspections recently. 

In November 2023, Wayne State University hosted site visitors from AAALAC International, our accreditation agency. Wayne State has proudly held continued accreditation since the 1970s and was one of the first institutions to be accredited. During the recent visit we received excellent feedback on how the current program of animal care is operated. Additionally, WSU received only three Suggestions for Improvement (SFIs), which appears to be a record low number for any accreditation visit Wayne State has hosted. This should be a point of pride for everyone involved in the program of animal care, including Principal Investigators and research staff alike!  

In addition to the great feedback we received from AAALAC, Wayne State hosted a surprise inspection from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in early January 2024. There were no citations given, and the inspector commended us on a well-run program of animal care. Both of these results reinforce our current efforts to continually improve our program and are points of pride as we enter 2024.
