IACUC office satisfaction survey results are in!
The Wayne State University IACUC and IACUC Office sought suggestions to identify areas where improvements in the services they provide are needed and how those improvements might be implemented. As a first step, an anonymous three-question satisfaction survey was distributed to all animal-research principal investigators. Approximately 30% responded.
Over 90% of respondents felt that the IACUC Office sufficiently answered their questions during their last interaction. In a 1 (very dissatisfied) to 5 (very satisfied) scale, the IACUC Office received a 4.59 rating for satisfaction of overall service. The survey also solicited open comments and suggestions for improvements. Over half of the comments were complementary to the IACUC Office staff and many offered constructive suggestions for improvement. Many involved concerns regarding the amount of time to review protocols.
The IACUC Office has begun implementing changes to address these concerns and, with customer's guidance, the office plans to continue these efforts. Several respondents asked for increased communication between the IACUC and DLAR offices and the animal research community. The team has started working on this issue and are soliciting suggestions for effective mechanisms to increase communications. The next survey in the series may be found here.
