Proteomics Core Facility User Guidelines

All users of the Wayne State University Proteomics Core Facility are asked to abide by the following guidelines.

Walk-Up Instrument Users

  • Octet Biolayer Interferometry (BLI)
  • Spectradyne nCS1 Particle Analyzer
  • Covaris Sonication

User must have completed the awareness training module and have permission to be in a research lab in order to use any Core instrument.

Reserve time for the instrument using the online iLab system before coming to the Core.  Refer to "Log-In vs New User Registration" on the Core website.

If you experience COVID-19 symptoms such as a cough, fever, sore throat, shortness of breath, muscle aches, chills, loss of taste or smell, or feel unwell in general, please reschedule your reservation.

  • If someone needs training, please contact the Core.
  • Face mask, gloves, and lab coat must be worn in the Core lab at all times.
  • Bring all supplies including pipettes.  Core supplies will not be available.
  • Bring all you need and take all you bring.  We will not be able to store samples or supplies.
  • Upon entering the Core, please stay at least 6 feet away from others.
  • Work within the boundaries of your station as marked.
  • Instrument usage will be determined from the instrument logs.

To minimize time spent in the Core, data analysis software for the instrument should be downloaded onto your personal computer:

  1. For the Spectradyne Particle Analyzer email tech support at support@spectradynellc.com for access to the free software link.
  2. For the Octet Red 96 BLI instrument, email tech support at ForteBioSupport@Sartorius.com for access to the free software link.

Sample Shipment/Drop-Offs for Mass Spec Services

Users must submit an online request using iLab shortly before or after shipping/dropping off samples. Sample details must be uploaded onto the system using a Word document or Excel spreadsheet as we do not accept paper copies. Refer to "Log-In vs New User Registration" on the Core website.

If you will be dropping off samples at the Core, we will accept sample drop-offs between 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day:

The Core will update you on the progress of the request and will email the data as soon as they become available.
