Research Orientation for New Faculty

The Office of the Vice President for Research is pleased to welcome new faculty to Wayne State University. We aim to provide resources to assist new faculty as they lay the groundwork for excellence in research, teaching, and service.

Every year the Division of Research has a VIRTUAL SCAVENGER HUNT for new faculty members to introduce our Research resources and programs. The 3 new faculty who submitted the highest number of accurate answers in the shortest amount of time will receive professional travel awards in the amounts of $1500 (first place), $1000 (second place), and $500 (third place).

To participate, faculty must have attended our Let's Get Your Research Funded! session from 4:00 to 4:45 on Monday, August 19, 2019 or 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, AUGUST 20, 2019, in McGregor Memorial Conference Center, room J. Virtual Scavenger Hunt items will be posted by Wednesday, August 21 at 5 p.m.

Travel awards will be given to the quickest 3 faculty members with complete and accurate answers.

CONGRATULATIONS to last year's winners: 

FIRST PLACE: Ana Daugherty, assistant professor of Psychology used her funding to attend and present at the annual meeting for the Society of Neuroscience.                    

SECOND PLACE: Steven Lavenz, assistant professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering used his award to attend a conference in Durham, NC where he met a post-graduate who now works in his lab.

THIRD PLACE: Jeremy Peters, lecturer in Music used his award to travel to New York City to attend the Open Music Summit.
