Federal Funding Updates Under New Administration

This page will be updated as new information and resources are identified.

As federal agencies and sponsors make changes or notify us of updates to specific projects, Sponsored Program Administration (SPA) will keep you informed with guidance, updates, and relevant resources to help you navigate these changes. We will also reach out with tailored guidance on the necessary steps for your project.

Proposal Submissions:

  • Proposals will continue to be submitted as long as federal submission systems remain operational.
  • Sponsor proposal review timelines may be extended due to federal pauses in specific funding areas.
  • Reconfirm proposal deadlines, as they may change.
  • Verify that funding announcements have not been revised or postponed.

Active Awards:

  • Please continue with work on existing awards under the terms and conditions of that award. If there is a change to your award, such as a stop work order and/or similar directions, we should receive an amendment.
  • Requests for reimbursement are managed by the SPA Finance group as usual unless otherwise notified.
  • Any amendments to awards will be reviewed and shared promptly.
  • Issuance of new awards likely will be delayed at least during the new administration’s transition period.
  • Monitor obligated budget balances to avoid deficits.
  • Communicate with your assigned SPA GCO to confirm any changes.
  • Submit overdue reports and deliverables promptly.
  • If you receive a stop-work order, immediately halt all project activities as specified in the notice.
    • Only costs incurred up to the date of the stop-work order are typically reimbursable.
    • Project costs and salaries may be reallocated to non-sponsored accounts at the unit’s discretion.
    • Coordinate with the assigned SPA GCO to ensure compliance and proper documentation.
    • Retain all records and communications related to the project for audit and closeout purposes.
